Job Description:
Brief DescriptionPurpose of JobProvides leadership for the
delivery of safe, effective and efficient nursing care in
accordance with the Standards of Nursing Care and Practice as
defined by Ridgeview Medical Center, the Minnesota Nurse Practice
Act and the American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical
Nursing Practice. Assumes 24 hour responsibility and accountability
for managing all aspects of the assigned nursing unit to include
personnel, budget, organization and development of the nursing
unit.Job Functions
- Provides leadership and oversight of the nursing unit. Supports
the department director through development of programs, goals and
objectives consistent with those of the organization's overall
strategic plan and initiatives.
- Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting,
selection, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates
staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely
manner. Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures
opportunities for professional development. Creates a cohesive
department committed to providing distributive, clinical and
service quality to all customers.
- Manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget
for the unit. Supports department director in quality improvement
efforts and service delivery that contributes to the overall
success and financial viability of nursing unit.
- Reviews and monitors applicable policies and procedures. As
assigned, ensures compliance with local, state and federal
regulatory agency standards.
- Maintains clinical competencies and/or knowledge in accord with
scope and responsibility of the position.
- May participate on organizational and medical staff committees
and serve as a professional resource for physicians, clinicians,
and leadership. May also collaborate with physicians and clinicians
regarding programs and services. May represent Ridgeview in
community outreach including participation on committees and
presenting to groups.
- Proactively identifies and acts upon improvement projects and
opportunities through observation, data analysis, engagement with
partners, review of external impact factors and best practices as
well as ongoing communication with leadership and staff.
- Manages and coordinates the daily activities of the unit to
ensure efficient and effective operations. Demonstrates
adaptability and flexibility in adjusting to new and changing
priorities and work situations.Minimum Education/License And Work
Experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in Minnesota (or, if
licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of
Nursing while the license application is in process)
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Demonstrated skills in management and supervision
- Minimal 5 years clinical experience
- CRP and other certifications(s) as required by the
unit/departmentKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team
- Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to
build strong working relationships at all levels
- Assures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to
internal and external customers
- Systemic thinking when contemplating and implementing
change
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective
written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job
functions as mentioned abovePreferred Qualifications
- Previous healthcare related experience
- Master's Degree preferred
- Two years (full time) of Charge or Assistant Nurse Manager
