About the Job


Duties/Responsibilities:
35% Culture raw milk and environmental samples from dairy farms for the presence of bacteria.
35% Identify bacteria using MALDI ToF Biotyper.
10% Perform quality control procedures to ensure testing accuracy.
10% Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including incubators, autoclaves, pipettes, and balances.
Adhere to practices and regulations governing biosafety and biosecurity in the workplace.
5% Perform general laboratory maintenance tasks including but not limited to inventory, stocking supplies, disposal of biohazardous
waste, and general laboratory cleaning.
5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications


All required qualifications must be included in the application materialsRequired:
A Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Bacteriology, Clinical Microbiology, Animal Science or related field.
Equivalent combination of education and work experience totaling 4 years will be considered.

Preferred:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques in bacteriology handling laboratory specimens.
Experience with the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment including incubators and biological safety cabinets.
Applicants must be professional, responsible, reliable, self-motivated, able to work independently, have excellent communication skills, and are prepared to demonstrate excellence, integrity, communication, and quality throughout all aspects of their job functions.
Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively in a fast paced team environment.
Ability to lift/transfer 30lb boxes from floor to waist-high table-top.
